Announcing Summer Hours: Open Monday through Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm. Closed Sunday except by reservation or appointment. We will be closed in June, but we will check messages. Season Notes:
October 2012 through April 2013 has been a very fine season for Desert Sports. Yes, we would like to have more water in the river, but the mountain biking has taken an upward swing. We are thrilled to be a Specialized dealer, and Desert Sports has been putting locals on new bikes…the mountain AND the road variety. We’ve even added a few Specialized bikes to our rental fleet!
The Chihuahuan Desert Bike Fest was a success! Save space for next year’s dates: FEBRUARY 13-15, 2014. Make it a love ride!!! For the 2013 event, over 400 riders joined us on fun rides in Big Bend National Park, on the Lajitas Trail System, and at Big Bend Ranch State Park. Gratitude goes to the excellent coordination by Texas Parks and Wildlife and the Big Bend Ranch State Park Crew. More thanks to our hosts at the Lajitas Maverick RV Park. You know how much we love our bike shop sponsors: Bicycle Sport Shop, Bike Barn and Richardson Bike Mart. More fun provided by Bike Mojo and we adore our local sponsors: Starlight Theatre, West Texas National Bank, Big Bend Telephone, Big Bend Brewing, Big Bend Resort and Adventures, Tivo’s, Long Draw Pizza and Kosmic Kathy! Specialized, Whole Earth and Orange Seal are greatly appreciated for their support. The event would not be complete without the Austin Bike Zoo introducing the Carousel and music with Brewski Salmineo and Friends. Hope ya’ll join us for the next Fest!
