Mas o Menos FAQ

There are so many questions to ask ... so much information to impart.

If you still have questions we haven't answered on this page please feel free to contact us and we'll try to hook you up with an answer.

Q. What are the event dates for 2009?

A. Tentatively we are planning for Presidents' Day Weekend (as usual) which is Thursday, February 12 through Saturday, February 14.

Q. When will pre-registration for Mas o Menos 2009 open?

A. December 2008.

Q. What if I don't want to camp or bring out an RV?

A. There are some hotels/motels in the immediate area and a large selection within a two-hour drive. Check out our local services page for phone numbers and links to our lodging sponsors. These are folks who support our event by donating prizes and cash: consider these folks in your search. Make your reservations early: rooms out here go fast and fill up early!

Q. Where are the results for 2008?

A. Check out our results page.

Q. When can I ride the course during the year?

A. Any trails on the Lajitas Property (most of the south side) are open for public use. Access them from the Lajitas Airport Trailhead. All other trails used for the MasOMenos are on PRIVATE PROPERTY and are not open to public riding. Booking a Guided Mountainbike Tour with Desert Sports is the only way to see those trails outside of race time.

Q. Are there prizes and trophies for both the Marathon and the TMBRA XC?

A. NO. The MasOMenos is a Marathon Event. We award prizes and trophies (generously!) for marathon events ONLY: the 30K, the 50K and the 100K. TMBRA points are culled from those results by TMBRA officials at the event and points are awarded that may be used in the XC series BUT there are no prizes or honorariums for those points designations: ONLY for Marathon results.

Q. Is this the same event as the Chihuahuan Desert Challenge?

A. Not exactly. This event uses some of the world famous CDC trails, and some amazing new ones as well. It is the same production team (mostly) from Desert Sports, but a completely different type of event. That was a stage race and this is an Enduro. That was in Lajitas, this is at the CASI site outside of Terlingua. That was then—this is now.

Q. I didn't get my prize at the event. Is it too late now?

A. Possibly, but possibly not. Contacting us online or give us a phone call (432-371-2727) and we'll see what we can do.

Q. Where are the photos?

A. Check out our photo page for more info.

Q. What if my question isn't anwered here?

A. Feel free to ask any more qestions by contacting us online or giving us a phone call (432-371-2727) or [heavens above!] by writing us a letter. Desert Sports, Box 448, Terlingua, TX, 79852, USA.
