Directions to CASI

The 2009 Starlight Theatre MasOMenos 100K will take place February 12, 13 & 14, 2009 (Presidents' Day weekend) at the home of the "World Championship Chili Cook-Off," owned by the Chili Appreciation Society International (CASI). The CASI folks have been our most gracious and supportive hosts for the past three years.

CASI

The CASI site is blessed with huge amounts of space for both primitive tent camping and RV camping. There will be ample toilets (We promise! But bring some of your own TP just in case!). Be sure to bring your camping stuff, including all the water you need for the event, sufficient firewood and whatever else you think you might need. There is nowhere to purchase firewood, although there is usually somewhere to buy drinking water, but not SHOWER water.

Site Access

The CASI site will open for camping starting on Wednesday, February 11 and will close to all participants at 1 pm on Sunday. Day-use site access is still FREE for the duration of the event: thanks to a great community partnership with the CASI folks.

Camping

There is a camping fee of $15/tent or $20/RV (for the whole event). That fee can be paid at the registration desk at the event.

There are no showers, water hook-ups, electrical hook ups or drinking water facilities on the CASI site.
Although it's pretty warm here this time of year (in comparison to most of the U.S.) it can get a might chilly once the sun goes down, and it does take a while for that sun to get up over the mountains. Throw in some of that warm camping and dancing gear, just in case.

  • The closest restaurants, convenience stores and lodging are four miles east in Terlingua.
  • The closest bank machine is nine miles east in Study Butte.
  • The closest shower is at BJ's RV park right near the Terlingua Store ($4).
  • The closest hook-ups are at BJ's RV park as well.
